About Us

Mission Statement –

The People’s Health Center provides affordable, comprehensive, accessible, culturally appropriate, cost-effective primary health care. The Center will serve people of the Lincoln, Nebraska area, especially those individuals/families with limited resources or with other barriers to health care to improve their overall health status.

Quick Facts – People’s Health Center is a federally qualified health center (FQHC). FQHC is a federal designation from the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC)

FQHC’s are either located in, or serve, a federally designated medically underserved area/population. All FQHC’s must operate under a consumer Board of Directors governance structure, and provide comprehensive primary health care, dental, and mental health/substance abuse services to persons in all stages of the life cycle. FQHC’s provide their services to all persons according to their ability to pay. There are over 1,200 Community Health Centers across the country that provide vital primary care to over 18 million Americans with limited financial resources.

In 2010, PHC saw 11,137 individual patients for over 43,314 visits. The Center provided 29,476 medical visits; 8,388 dental visits; 452 behavioral health visits and 4,998 support service visits (case management, interpretation, medication assistance, and health education).

Medical Home – Community Health Centers serve as a “medical home” to their patients. The definition of a medical home is the coordination of care from care plans to appointments with specialists. The patient receives consistent care from birth through old age. The medical home serves as a guide to community support services from education to transportation.
